Find Material Distribution

The team at the University of Virginia has created a series of Karamba3D examples to guide users through several workflow processes.
Each example is thoroughly explained and the geometry is internalized to run without supporting Rhino files. Input new rhino geometry into the Grasshopper definitions to see how the geometry performs.

Difficulty: Hard

This definition takes a polysurface input from rhino (or option2: curves to loft), divides a mesh according to sliders, converts the mesh edges to beams and analyzes moments at each node. The mesh is then redrawn with thickness of each edge determined by the bending moment value.

  1. Change the slider that controls mesh density
  2. Change the slider that controls angle threshold to turn triangle segments into quads
  3. Test your own polygon
